This 180 Hp 3ph induction motor from Raser Technology’s Symetron line weighs 147 lbs. and is only 12.5” diameter. Not yet in production. |

Raser Tech is licensing its technology to motor manufacturers, and is not in production. AC Propulsion price includes controller and water cooling system. This motor is used in the Venturi Fetish. |

PML Flightlink HPD30 price is currently about $15000 including built-in controller. These are special order and hand built, but PML Flightlink is planning production by 2009 and expects the price to be 7% to 10% of this price.

PML Flightlink EW3060 is produced in small quantities and the matching controller is $4600. This the same price as the HPD30.

Although not suitable for automotive applications, I think this motor from Sumitomo Electric is interesting. It uses High Temperature Super conductors, puts out 490 Hp and weighs over 4 tons!! The whole point about super conductors is it should make motors small and light. This will come sometime in the future. On a completely different topic, another Sumitomo company, Sumika is partnering with Rosestreet Energy to produce 50% efficient solar cells, much higher than any other. Pilot production in summer 2008, full production to start in 2010. |
